YWAM’s motto is to Know God and Make Him Known. In Mark 16:15, Jesus tells us to “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation”. In order to make God Known, we need to GO. At YWAM Queenstown we see “Go” in two ways.
- Cross-cultural: Going overseas and sharing God’s love with people of other cultures.
- Local: Going outside our front door – to the people in our community.
One of the early words spoken over YWAM Queenstown, was that the nations come here – now God wants to use Queenstown as a launch pad to send people OUT to the nations. We send teams out, particularly to the Pacific and South-East Asia.
We will have a special focus on Papua New Guinea, where we already have a connection and relationships.
The stunning scenery, adventure activities and party atmosphere of the Queenstown-Lakes district draws in over 2 million visitors a year – making it a perfect place for evangelism and loving people from all over the world. We want to partner with the local church body and engage the residents and visitors to Queenstown with a loving God.
We will have a particular outreach focus on the backpacking culture – Queenstown is a hub for backpackers and young people who stay and work for several months. We also want reach out to the many skiers/snowboarders who visit the five incredible ski resorts around Queenstown and Wanaka.
